Network Geographics' first offering in this area is InfoSecter, a static analysis tool that operates on firewall configuration files. InfoSecter reads the file and then creates an efficient internal model of firewall behavior which can be filtered and queried based on packet properties and / or firewall actions. Administrators can then explore the configuration by what it does instead of what commands are in the configuration file. In addition to browsing functionality, InfoSecter enables the functional comparison between firewall configuration and policy constraint validation. In all cases, the administrator can directly find relevant configuration lines without having to be an expert in the configuration language for the firewall or wondering if he missed a line that completely changes the behavior.
